I know it has been a while. I was sick last week. It was pretty icky especially since I have not had the flu in quite some time. All better now. Thank goodness.
I have been sewing like a mad woman and am almost done with my sewing for my sister's wedding. I made my bride's maid dress and still need to make the little top to go over it and am almost done with the second bride's maid dress. I put in the zipper this morning while watching a National Geographic dvd about Queen Nefertiti. I would have done it last night but one reaches a certain point where it is not safe to work on tasks that require a whole lot of concentration and consiousness. I have to take a hint when I start making stupid mistakes that I know I should not be making. Now I just need the recipient to try it on so I can put the buttons in the right place and know how long or short to make the hem. All of the flowers are done for the wedding. I never thought I would be using any of the floral design elements from my horticulture degree but she asked me if I would do them and since I am a loving sister I said I would. Thank goodness she used artificial flowers and bought all of her own supplies and I gave my time. It was fun though. Boutineirs, corsages, bridal bouquet, bride's maids bouquets, and pew bow decorations. I should take pictures and post them! Now I just have to do the top to my outfit and finish their wedding gifts. I hope they use them... I'll post photos of the sewing when I finish.
I started what I like to call a "fiddler project". A project I am fiddling around with. Not a planned project but just an idea I am playing with. I have yarn that has a repeating color pattern fading from light blue to dark blue. Supposedly if you work it just right, you can make the colors line up and forms a cool pattern. If it turns out I am thinking it will be a bag. We will see...
One more week until the wedding. Boy, I does not feel like I do not have a job yet! Whew!! Well back to the grind. I have to iron the fabric for my top and hope I don't melt off design by making the iron too hot. All I remember is to iron it face down. Wish me luck!
